Standing by its commitment to provide active and long-term support to Cyprus’ cultural and artistic community, Thanos Hotels and Resorts, in collaboration with Travelgems, the leading retreat company in Europe, is hosting a Cultural Retreat – Goddesses in Greek Myth at Almyra hotel. Offering a unique journey of exploration into the goddesses of Ancient Greece, the retreat will be led by acclaimed author and broadcaster Natalie Haynes.
Participants will have a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the mythology and heritage of powerful female deities through lectures, tours of mythological places and discussions with experts. During the retreat, participants will enjoy a programme that includes visits to archaeological sites, discussions with Natalie Haynes, as well as interactive sessions with Maria Piggoura who will offer a deeper understanding of ancient mythology. At the same time, they will have the opportunity to participate in wellness sessions and relax at afternoon gatherings held at Almyra's elegant Helios Lounge Bar, overlooking the mesmerising Paphos sunset.
The retreat is intended for anyone who loves mythology, history and wellness, as it offers visitors a unique opportunity to combine the exploration of ancient stories with the rich cultural heritage of Cyprus as well as Greece, from where the “journey” begins – with fascinating stories and the rich history of some of the most iconic female deities of Greek mythology.
The retreat will highlight some of the most charming spots on the island, such as Paphos, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for its ancient monuments such as the House of Dionysus and the imposing Paphos Castle. More specifically, the first stop will be in the village of Lemba, where participants will visit the Chalcolithic settlement of Lemba - Lakkus. Then they will proceed to the site of the Late Bronze Age, the Temple of Aphrodite in Palaipaphos, where they will discover the ruins of the megalithic temple of the Great Goddess of Cyprus (who later became known as Aphrodite) and the Museum of Palaipafos which exhibits, among other findings, the Vaitylo (worship idol of the Goddess) of Palaepaphos. The tour will continue to Petra tou Romiou, the mythical birthplace of Goddess Aphrodite. With crystal clear waters and breathtaking scenery, Cyprus is the perfect setting for a trip that combines education, relaxation and personal development.
The two retreats take place between Cyprus and Greece. The first retreat takes place on the dates 18-23 October (21-23 in Cyprus) and the second on 24-29 October (24-26 in Cyprus). For more information and reservations, visit
